Food Chart for Babies 0-9 Months

Food Chart for Babies 0-9 Months

It's such a pleasure to write about babies and their food! In my earlier blogs, I have covered about weight gain foods and how to introduce solid foods to your baby.  But I guess most of the moms out there get confused about what to give your baby after breastfeeding or along with breastfeeding. In my further blogs, I will be mentioning about foods which you can give your babies of different age groups. If your baby is less than 6 months old, breastfeeding is the best thing to give your baby! capture 1 Here's how you can check:-After the 5th month, you can start introducing semi-solid foods to your babies along with the breast milk but before that it always better to check if your baby is ready for solid foods or no! - Crying, sucking thumb after breastfeeding/formula milk feeding - Stable neck - Looking at the food - Put sterilized spoon in baby's mouth and check if he/she is able to hold the spoon or no - Sitting upright more often Food options for your 6-month-old baby:- This is the best time to build your baby's taste buds. It is better to include different varieties of food during infancy so that after he/she grows up they can choose healthier options for themselves. - You can always go with pureed fruits. - Start with 1 tbsp a day and gradually increase it. - Do not force your baby with any foods. If your baby is turning his/her face away from the food it is better not to give it to your baby. - You can start with 12 pm and 4 pm pureed meals and breast milk/ formula milk in the morning and bed time. - Lunch has to be the heaviest meal of the day. - Breastfeed your baby if he/she is hungry throughout the day. table 2 Food options for your 7-month-old baby:-  - Once your baby enters 7th month you can start with 3 meals a day + Breastfeeding. - DO NOT QUIT BREASTFEEDING - You can start with 9 am, 12 pm and 6 pm meals with breast milk before bed. - Make your baby sit upright while eating. - Always introduce 1 food at a time and wait for 3 days to check for any allergy symptoms (More info:- Introduction   to solid foods for your baby) - Breastfeed your baby if he/she is hungry throughout the day. table 3 rev Also Read: Food Chart for 11 Months Baby Food options for your 8-month-old baby:-  - Get ready for your challenges, your baby is growing up! - By now your baby might start crawling and will try to do things using his/her hands. - Spoon feeding for you might become a task which means your baby is all set to go to the second level, FINGER FOODS! - If your baby is picking up different foods with different textures then maybe your baby wants some more finger foods to explore! - If your baby is grabbing food, try out different options to check what he/she likes. - Your baby will mess it up, so be prepared! - There is nothing like time-bound foods which is mentioned in the earlier months.  - Listen to your baby's hunger, he/she will let you know when they want food - Do not quit breast milk, feed at least once a day (Bedtime is ideal) Along with the food options mentioned above, you can also introduce these foods:- - Cauliflower - Broccoli - Egg yolks - Fish - Lean chicken - curd - cheese - homemade cereal bars - tofu  - fruit smoothies (Formula milk) But remember the 3-day rule and introduce foods accordingly. Tentative timing to feed your baby's:- (Like mentioned, go according to your baby's hunger. But if still, you are unclear about that, here is a tentative timetable) Breakfast- 9 am Mid-meal snack- 12 pm Lunch- 1.30 pm Evening snack- 5 pm Dinner- 8 pm If your baby is hungry in between, please go ahead with breastfeeding table 4 table 5 table 6 Food options for 9-month-old baby:- - Your baby is growing even bigger, he/she might be teething!  - Teething makes your baby irritated. He/she might not feel like eating or feel hungry. - To handle this, give your baby variety of foods which looks appealing. Don't make your food pale and boring. - Stop pureeing things. After your baby starts with finger foods, there is no need for you to puree them. - Continue with breastfeeding, at least 90 ml a day. One most common query which parents ask me is,  Can we add Indian spices to baby's food? Well, this is an article in itself which I might write :) For now, keeping it short and crisp- Yes you can add spices only if you have started solid foods for your baby. Don't forget the 3-day rule! Why is it formula milk or breast milk for first 12 months? Why do we start with cheese and curd but not cow milk? I am sure I have made you curious!
